Tormales

Belgian Craft Beer Packaging

2025

Packaging

At the heart of Tormales is a local legend: a regional brewing recipe, said to date back to 1015 AD, discovered on parchment by a group of friends in Dormaal. That story became the spark for a beer named after Tormales—the oldest known name associated with the area—and a brand shaped by friendship, patience and Belgian brewing tradition. Whether history, folklore or a little of both, it gave the brand something powerful: a story people could remember before they ever took a sip.

JTG was tasked with creating a premium packaging system that could honour this heritage while giving the range a stronger, more distinctive presence—without becoming theatrical or dated. The brand already had a powerful lion crest and expressive wordmark, but the previous packaging did not give either asset enough prominence or consistency to build recognition. The identity was not the problem. The application was.

We rebuilt the packaging around those existing strengths, giving the crest, wordmark and range hierarchy room to lead. Refined typography, heraldic detailing and distinct colour palettes give Tripel, Donker and future releases their own character while keeping the range unmistakably Tormales.

The system was then carried across bottle labels, draught decals and tap designs, creating a cohesive brand presence from shelf to bar. The result is more than a refreshed label: it is a recognisable packaging family designed to turn brewing heritage into appetite, recall and long-term brand value.
